How long have you been at OneStudyTeam? 2 years

Why did you join the team?

I’ve worked for several companies that were doing good things, but I wanted to solve really big and really important problems. The US healthcare system has a lot of inefficiencies and so when I found out about OneStudyTeam I felt that they would be a great fit for me.

Where did you work prior to joining?

I’ve worked for several companies including Nike and Sling TV. I’ve also worked for some companies that help small to medium sized businesses with their marketing (most recently I worked at Marketo which is now part of Adobe).

What is your favorite part of being on the team?

I love working with my team to find innovative answers to difficult challenges.

What is your favorite moment or project during your time at OneStudyTeam?

I’ve done a lot of great things at OneStudyTeam from expanding out bulk import tool to digitizing protocols, but my favorite thing I’ve done has been the Visit Window Calculator. Not only was it a great challenge and fun to build, but I’ve heard great feedback about how useful it is to a lot of people.

What is your advice for others looking for opportunities on the data team?

I think one of the best things about our team is the lack of hubris. It’s okay to be proud of your work, but don’t think you have all the answers. Everyone on the team is not only very helpful, but also humble.

What’s your favorite OneStudyTeam perk or benefit?

Definitely the free wellness day days we have gotten during the pandemic (I hope they continue). I love working at OneStudyTeam, but I love having extra time with my family too.

If you could describe the team in one word what would it be?

Caring 

Which of OneStudyTeam’s core values resonates most with you? Why?

Build things that are useful and unique (but that may be just because I’m in engineering ;) ).

What was your fun fact when you joined OneStudyTeam? 

I shared my favorite quote: “Remember that every corpse on Everest was once a highly motivated person.” I admit I found this on a Demotivational Calendar, but I find it really inspiring. It helps me remember that even though I’ve made mistakes—I haven’t made any mortal mistakes—so I still have a chance to grow and learn as a person.

Favorite food?

It changes, but lately I’ve been craving bratwurst a lot. They make me remember my time in Germany.

Favorite place on earth?

Anywhere there are trees, water, or sand.

Sea turtles

Favorite genre of music?

Anything instrumental or that has words that I understand

Even though I’m in my late 30s I’m still evolving and changing and I think I’ll be changing my whole life.

If you could give a piece of advice to your younger self what would it be?

Invest in Apple, Tesla, and Google. ;)

Also, don’t worry about things so much.

What’s a unique fact about you that few people know?

When I retire I want to hike the Appalachian Trail.
